Unfortunately I have no idea what is wrong, nor where to begin looking. I've never had to run a tracker before, sorry. I did just test it out on a machine: wxs@ack ~ % uname -a FreeBSD ack.atarininja.org 8.0-CURRENT FreeBSD 8.0-CURRENT #3: Tue May 27 12:45:19 EDT 2008 root@ack.atarininja.org:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC amd64 wxs@ack ~ % bittorrent-tracker --port 9999 --allowed_dir /home/wxs/tmp >>> unable to setrlimit not allowed to raise maximum limit 2008-07-07T17:40:44.632286 parse_dir: parsing directory /home/wxs/tmp track: create_serversocket, port= 9999 2008-07-07T17:41:44.644721 parse_dir: parsing directory /home/wxs/tmp It has been sitting there for a few minutes now, but I have yet to point a client at it. /home/wxs/tmp is where I have a torrent file that I downloaded from freebsd.org. I have no idea if this is the right way to setup a tracker or not. If it isn't I'll see about setting up a tracker properly and see if I can reproduce your problem that way. -- WXS From andymac at bullseye.apana.org.au Tue Jul 8 12:35:22 2008 From: andymac at bullseye.apana.org.au (Andrew MacIntyre) Date: Tue Jul 8 12:35:29 2008 Subject: py-bittorrent/twistedCore broken on 8.0? I know very little about Twisted, but I seem to recall that it offers a range of different reactors; if you can find where in bittorrent its deciding to use the kqreactor, you might be able to force it to use an alternate reactor (such as one based on select() or poll()). If you can change the reactor and get something that works, that would suggest some issue with the kqreactor, at least on 8.x. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Andrew I MacIntyre "These thoughts are mine alone..." The Adobe Integrated Runtime and Flash Player use AMF to communicate between an application and a remote server. AMF encodes remote procedure calls (RPC) into a compact binary representation that can be transferred over HTTP/HTTPS or the RTMP/RTMPS protocol. Objects and data values are serialized into this binary format, which increases performance, allowing applications to load data up to 10 times faster than with text-based formats such as XML or SOAP. AMF3, the default serialization for ActionScript 3.0, provides various advantages over AMF0, which is used for ActionScript 1.0 and 2.0. AMF3 sends data over the network more efficiently than AMF0. AMF3 supports sending int and uint objects as integers and supports data types that are available only in ActionScript 3.0, such as ByteArray, ArrayCollection, and IExternalizable. It's a bit different from what I thought and I want to write something like this myself. I just wrote this port and wanted to share it, if someone is interested in it. So you don't need to prepare the stuff a second time. A bit off-topic: But I can maintain some other port that is set to ports@freebsd.org: - emulators/cingb Reason: I'm the author of the software.
