Xorg can't find my graphics card

> The first step I *always* do after installing X on a FreeBSD machine is
to make sure that there are no xorg.conf file in /etc/X11, then I run
> X -configure
> as root. This will write a basic xorg.conf in /root/xorg.conf.new, and
would be the best staring point if your graphics card is supprted by Xorg.
> Have you tried that?

Yes, I tried it first. Running this did not result in xorg.conf being
created in /root, or anywhere.

I was working from the FreeBSD documentation:
http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/x-config.html X
and Xorg seem to do the same thing.

% startx (failed)
# Xorg -configure (failed)

So I ran xorgconfig and created /usr/local/etc/xorg.conf, then manually
edited it.

NOW:
I removed /etc/xorg.conf and /usr/local/etc/xorg.conf
#X -configure

I noticed that when I created the file manually and set the drivers to nv,
/var/log/xorg.0.log had additional information listing all the nvidia
driver names.

Any ideas? Need more information? Thanks for any help.
