Runtime problems with www/chromium on RPI3

Chrome finally compiled on an RPI3 and it runs, but reports many errors:

[47088:1333610240:0108/212257.960713:ERROR:bus.cc(393)] Failed to connect to the bus: Could not parse server address: Unknown address type (examples of valid types are "tcp" and on UNIX "unix")

and 

[47125:1208291328:0108/212408.927049:ERROR:child_process_sandbox_support_impl_linux.cc(81)] FontService unique font name matching request did not receive a response.


Both hald and dbus are started during boot, and no errors appear on the
console, but a check for dbus using
ps -aux | grep dbus
finds no instance running.


Any suggestions appreciated!
