Could you also execute the following Makefile and give us the output?

all:
   @echo OSVERSION = ${OSVERSION}
   @echo OSREL = ${OSREL}

.include <bsd.port.mk>

  It might be that 12-CURRENT on a non x86 architecture sets wrongly
those variables.
