/usr/local/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0: Undefined symbol "environ"

On recent CURRENT (12.0-CURRENT #38 r317592: Sat Apr 29 17:35:38 CEST 2017  amd64), with
up to date ports tree, multimedia/mplayer doesn't work any more and quits service with

/usr/local/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0: Undefined symbol "environ" on console,

and 

/usr/local/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0: Undefined symbol
"environ"write(2,"/usr/local/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0:"...,59) = 59 (0x3b)

write(2,"\n",1)                                  = 1 (0x1)
exit(0x1)                                       
process exit, rval = 1

running truss. Any ideas what is up here?

I have WITH_LLD_IS_LD=yes set!
