I only said that it was a real port, not that it worked for me. My
experience with it is identical to yours. As far as I can tell, it simply
does not work.
I usually use lynx these days, but I have both lynx and links installed and
try links when lynx fails. links-hacked, OTOH, seem pretty useless. I'll
admit that I have no real interest in debugging it. I'm guessing that is
why the OP wanted to delete it as it conflicts with links.
