No, it's a "No one cares enough about this port to step forward and
maintain it" problem.

That's arguable, but once again it's an issue that no one has stepped up
to fix.
FWIW, I find this firefox plugin:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/live-http-headers really
useful to track down where the real URLs are .... especially for SF sites.
