net-mgmt/portupgrade - SSL need to be in base?

Hi,
it looks like SSL suppot needs to be compiled into the base
system to fetch the portupgrade source?! At least my base
system is without SSL support and it does not fetch...
portupgrade> make fetch
===> License check disabled, port has not defined LICENSE
===> Found saved configuration for portupgrade-2.4.9.3,2
=> pkgtools-pkgtools-b99f3ce.tar.gz doesn't seem to exist in
/usr/ports/distfiles/.

SSL support disabled
