Perhaps a more detailed explanation in the commit explaining the reason 
behind it would be nice, next time...  The commit-log didn't mention 
anything about it, just a link to two PR's that looked not too serious 
(bug/security-wise), and looked like they could be applied to 1.2.3, as 
well.  I feel very weary running not-yet-released software for something 
as important as source version control software...  I'm sure more people 
feel like that.
