jdk14 won't build : 'printf: missing format character'

Using FreeBSD 5.4. I have the linux-sun-jdk14
installed. I cannot build native Java:

# make install clean
printf: missing format character
===>  jdk-1.4.2p7_1 is*** Error code 1

Any suggestions?
