Libtool archives

Hello,

I was crating a port that produces a ".la" file.

It is an XMMS plugin.

portlint outputed the following:

WARN: /usr/home/ale/Projects/ports/xmms-fxt/pkg-plist [1]: installing
libtool archives, please use USE_LIBTOOL_VER in Makefile if possible. 
See http://www.FreeBSD.org/gnome/docs/porting.html for a way to
completely eliminate .la files. 0 fatal errors and 1 warnings found.

Where can I find more information about this?
