Update for foomatic-db-engine-20031213_2 on the way?

Is anybody working on fixing the foomatic-db-engine port?  It is marked 
as broken because configure fails.  However, I notice it works fine for 
notably the Gentoo Linux distribution.  I would gladly take a crack at 
it if it is not being actively worked on currently.
