So a more appropriate subject line would be INDEX failed or something
like that.

There have been recently some changes in kde3/Makefile.kde and AFAIK
ports should not use it anymore as all necessary thing are now in
bsd.kde.mk but the file is still there.

Check your cvup config file and make sure you're not refusing anything.
