Thanks a lot, everything is clear now.
I did not install from CD, but I did use sysinstall for
initial package installations almost a year ago.

One thing. Shouln't the note be in UPDATING also? Hardly I could
look for it in the cited place. In errata for 4.9 I probably could,
but frankly I did not look even into UPDATING this time,
although usually I do so.
