nss differences

Why does nss-3.9 fail to build on 4.8 but nss builds fine internally when 
building firefox? I'm suspecting a pthreads issue, but can someone narrow down 
the differences between the patches/makefiles for the two? That would help
fix nss-3.9 standalone.
