Because it would be worse to violate POLA again (by providing multiple 
metaports) to remedy a former violation (which was to not keep the metaport 
in sync with KDE). Again: x11/kde3 does nothing but provide KDE, as defined 
by the KDE project. This should not be a surprise for any user, the old 
metaport was surprising users (and causing regular questions like "Where has 
the Motif style gone, it used to be in x11/kde3 in KDE2").
