portsupgrade -a (ERROR)

I was executing a "portsupgrade -a" and got the following error below for
the /usr/ports/archivers/rpm/RPM-3.0.6 port. I tried
uninstalling/reinstalling the port but it didn't seem to work. I've
attached the "config.log" as requested below, as well as a list of my
installed ports (ls -l /var/db/pkg) which is noted below. I'm running
FreeBSD v4.7.
Error:
checking for gcc... cc
checking whether the C compiler (cc -O -pipe ) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler cannot
create executables.

Please report the problem to ports at FreeBSD.org [maintainer] and attach
the "/usr/ports/archivers/rpm/work/rpm-3.0.6/config.log" including the
output of the failure of your make command. Also, it might be a good
idea to provide an overview of all packages installed on your system
(e.g. an `ls /var/db/pkg`).
