Proposal: unification of distfiles for FreeBSD and NetBSD

One workaround would be for you to make your own local FTP mirror of your
already-downloaded distfiles (like
ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/distfiles/) and then, for NetBSD, add it
to your MASTER_SITE_BACKUP.

p.s. I should try using NetBSD pkgsrc on my FreeBSD boxes ...
