what is this "gitlab" port?

I see a bunch of rubygem ports added.  Are these all being added for some
future port?  And is it fair to say the ports are useless without it?

For one you are adding a port without providing any description of what the
port does, why it's need, etc -- just "here, commit this".

I think all of these ports need real descriptions so people understand what's
trying to be accomplished here.  less text = more like to be ignored.
