The ports are maintained by volunteers, contributors and committers and as
such, everyone works on them in their spare time. It may happen, and often
does, that ports are outdated and if you'd like to see them up to date, you're
more than welcome to open a PR with a patch for port update. Take a look at
Porters Handbook that contains all the information on how to do it
(https://www.freebsd.org/doc/en/books/porters-handbook/) and join #bsdports on
freenode if you need any help (or simply to hang around!).
