OK tested here with your setup.

Although the new version of the sidebar patch compiles it doesn't seem to
work correctly. Until I have more time to dig deeper into that I suggest
using the old version. Please try by coyping the attached files to the
"files" subdir of the port and recompile and reinstall.

If that solves it for you then milki could commit it (which in fact is a back
out of the last version of both files)
