I don't think this is a good idea because *_DEPENDS mechanism is
supposed to provide *building* of non-installed dependencies and not
just to stop the process. Since currently there is no way to *force* a
port to rebuild with a different set of options, creating of slave
port remains the only "official" approach, which guarantees that
everything gets built, as far as I can see.
(Anyway, you should submit this as a separate PR.)
