Building gtk20 fails because of a dependency on pangocairo.pc, supposed to be installed by the pango port. 

Pango automatically installs pangocairo.pc and associated library files if and only if it can find a suitable font backend. This process depends on fontconfig being up to date. However, this is not listed in Pango's build dependencies. Thus, pango succeeds to install, but does so incompletely from the point of view of  other packages that in turn depend on it.

The repair is to ensure fontconfig is listed as a dependency for pango.
