Hello,

I have just installed Freebsd 7.1 amd64 on my Intel core2duo desktop.
After installing, i have installed cvsup, portmaster, and then xorg.
installation of x11/gnome2 fails with the following error:

checking for EVOLUTION_DATA_SERVER... configure: error: Package requirements (libebook-1.2 >= 2.24.3
         libecal-1.2 >= 2.24.3
         libedataserver-1.2 >= 2.24.3
         libedataserverui-1.2 >= 2.24.3
         libegroupwise-1.2 >= 2.24.3
         libebackend-1.2 >= 2.24.3
     libgdata-1.2 >= 2.24.3
     libgdata-google-1.2 >= 2.24.3) were not met:

gnome-config: not found
No package 'libedataserverui-1.2' found

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables EVOLUTION_DATA_SERVER_CFLAGS
and EVOLUTION_DATA_SERVER_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

===>  Script "configure" failed unexpectedly.
Please run the gnomelogalyzer, available from
"http://www.freebsd.org/gnome/gnomelogalyzer.sh", which will diagnose the
problem and suggest a solution. If - and only if - the gnomelogalyzer cannot
solve the problem, report the build failure to the FreeBSD GNOME team at
gnome at FreeBSD.org, and attach (a)
"/usr/ports/mail/evolution/work/evolution-2.24.5/config.log", (b) the output
of the failed make command, and (c) the gnomelogalyzer output. Also, it might
be a good idea to provide an overview of all packages installed on your system
(i.e. an `ls /var/db/pkg`). Put your attachment up on any website,
copy-and-paste into http://freebsd-gnome.pastebin.com, or use send-pr(1) with
the attachment. Try to avoid sending any attachments to the mailing list
(gnome at FreeBSD.org), because attachments sent to FreeBSD mailing lists are
usually discarded by the mailing list software.

Running the gnomelogalyzer.sh as recommended produces the following results:
desktop# ./gnomelogalyzer.sh

Generating build log. Please wait... done.

The cause of your build failure is not known to gnomelogalyzer.sh. Before
e-mailing the build log to the FreeBSD GNOME team at freebsd-gnome at FreeBSD.org,
TRY EACH OF THE FOLLOWING:

none of the "EACH OF THE FOLLOWING" worked. A search in Google shows that i'm not the only one who's had this problem, but the solution is unacceptable - build gnome-lite, switch back to gnome2 run make missing, then install manually the ports you still want.

Ironically - i don't even want Evolution, I'm running quite happily with Thunderbird on the laptop, and i would just LOVE a --without_evoltion in the gnome2 configure.

I have repeatedly cvsuped my ports tree, expecting that this must be resolved quickly, it's been several weeks.
I share the distfiles with my laptop which started with Freebsd 7.1 Beta and has been working for some time (with evolution) and has had no such build problems. (i wasn't smart enough to keep a log of all i did to get things working, so am having to reinvent the wheel somewhat, however, i don't recall ever having problems installing Evolution on the laptop.)

This also seems to be an old error which dates back to gnome1 - as some suggestions i found were for a very old version of evolution running on freebsd 6.4, it seems that this might be reversion of an old error in this latest version, which is "fixed" by updating rather than installing fresh.

This bug breaks a number of things,
portmaster -a
any attempt to build or update gnome2
any attempt to build or update anything that builds or updates gnome2 - like gnome-power-tools

any help building gnome2 with or without evolution would be a great help.
thanks
