Thanks for reply :)
for benefit of freebsd-ports-bugs I'll give this
7.2-STABLE FreeBSD 7.2-STABLE #1: Sat Aug 29 03:53:14 EST 2009
/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC amd64
my system is doing a portupgrade -a
which is where I noted the FreeType bridge was disabled by default
- i've forced a rebuild of FreeType2 with the above mentioned option ,
then enabled Freetype bridge in the ghostscript8 option
and allowed portupgrade to continue.
ghostscript8-8.70 is installed
the /var/db/pkg/ghostscript8-8.70 files are freshly dated, so I'm assuming
it's built successfully with FreeType bridge enabled.
