 I submitted a similar patch not long ago:

 Could you perhaps test it and tell me if it works for you?
 
 Concerning your patch:
 Are you sure --enable-shared is needed for a52dec? handbrake shouldn't
 make use of shared libs.
 
 jam -j doesn't seem to do what you intend. From the doc:
 
 -j n : Run up to n shell commands concurrently (UNIX and NT only). The
 default is 1.
 
 I usually also specify -DPIC when I specify -fPIC but I don't think it
 changes anything in this case.
