>Release: FreeBSD 6.2-STABLE i386

>Environment:
System: FreeBSD esprit.setuid.de 6.2-STABLE FreeBSD 6.2-STABLE #2: Fri May 25 21:04:05 CEST 2007 root at elan.setuid.de:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/ESPRIT i386

editors/emacs installed from the current ports tree:

% ls -ld /var/db/pkg/emacs*
drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Jul 22 09:18 /var/db/pkg/emacs-22.1

>Description:

Some of the info files from emacs are not installed correctly. Missing
are for example the info files for Calc, Emacs, Elisp, Gnus. Others
like Dired-X, Emacs FAQ or Emacs MIME are found.

Accessing one of the missing info files results in an error message
like the following:

Can't find emacs-1 or any compressed version of it

>How-To-Repeat:

Start emacs. Type 'C-h i' to open the info browser, then type 'm
Emacs' or 'm Gnus' to access that documentation node. Press return and
get the error message in minibuffer.

>Fix:

Looking into for example /usr/local/info/emacs.info one can see that
files emacs-1, ..., emacs-8 are referenced. Those are missing from
/usr/local/info.

It seems that all info files matching '.*-[0-9]$' are missing from
/usr/local/info. Copying these from the emacs distribution into
/usr/local/info fixes the problem.
