FreeBSD pdfmakr.fortress.org 6.2-RELEASE-p5 FreeBSD 6.2-RELEASE-p5 #0: Sun Jun 24 07:35:14 EDT 2007 andrew at pdfmakr.fortress.org:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC i386
>Description:
Using xf86-input-vmmouse-12.4.0 on FreeBSD 6.2-RELEASE-p5 with Xorg 7.2, running in vmware server 1.0.3.
Host OS is Windows XP SP2.

Mouse display pointer appears at the wrong location on the screen.
The pointer tracks in and out of the guest OS window correctly, but inside the FreeBSD guest OS running Xorg 7.2, the coordinates being reported to X are out of line with the reality.
I don't know if the problem lies within VMWare, or within the vmmouse driver.

>How-To-Repeat:
Install FreeBSD 6.2-RELEASE guest OS (kernel+sources, but NO X11) in VMWare server 1.0.3 running on Windows XP SP2 host.
Upgrade system to FreeBSD 6.2-RELEASE-p5 as per updating instructions
Install Xorg 7.2 from Ports
Install vmware guest utilities (it doesn't detect that X is installed, which is another issue that VMWare is aware of...source of the problem???).
Configure X
startx
move pointer in/out of the window, and see that the text selection begins in the wrong place w/respect to the pointer.
