I'm sure the newer/updated version is stable enough, since I'm using it 
regularly without any problems from the day I updated it to version 0.34. 
Even before this I also installed 0.33 from sources and used it for long 
time; I did not send any update for 0.33 for FreeBSD ports because we were 
working on releasing version 0.34 at quite a drastic speed.

So, I think you may eliminate -devel suffix and feel free to update the 
existing port instead.

Hope that fulfills the purpose.
