 Well it turned out that there was feedback but it was in private mail.
 
 However, my conclusion for the issue was this: this is almost certainly
 because the submitter is using 4.8, which has the antique make(1).  We
 just cannot support those systems anymore; IMHO the only reasonable choice
 is to upgrade.
