After installing the math/rpy port, there is an error trying to import the python module:
ImportError: /usr/local/lib/python2.3/site-packages/_rpymodule.so: Undefined symbol "jump_now"

I found a patch on the rpy mailing list which at least allows the module to be imported and used on some of the demo code:
