I am confused:

1) the HTML link below is not valid

2) xfmail does not have OpenLDAP in its prereqs (from INDEX built on April
   30, 2004):

grep xfmail INDEX

While in /usr/ports/mail/xfmail/Makefile, there is this for "OpenLDAP":

.if defined(WITH_LDAP)
LIB_DEPENDS+=   ldap.1:${PORTSDIR}/net/openldap12
CONFIGURE_ARGS+=        --with-ldap
.endif

3) While I do use various variable "incantations" for various LDAP-needing
 applications, ala current defintions below, I don't understand what this has
 to do with "Warning: Duplicate INDEX entry" or "make_index: ... no entry for
 /usr/ports/net/openldap12" error messages, nor the suggestion of filing bug
 reports about unnamed applications that appear to be linked to OpenLDAP

grep LDAP /etc/make.conf
HAVE_OPENLDAP=1
OPENLDAP_VERSION=21
WITH_LDAP=openldap2
WITH_OPENLDAP=1
