Webmake v2.4 is marked as an "in-development" version.  The current
version (2.3) is the official released version.

As to the 'fetch' failures: it turns out that the tar balls downloadable
from the home site (webmake.taint.org) and SourceForge have different
file sizes (though the unpacked trees are identical -- probably a 
difference in the compression options used).  Thus, depending on
where you download the source tarball from, you either get a 
checksum error or a smooth build :(.
