>Description:

The gnu ghostscripts port and probably the afpl port use the "hp2200"
drivers for the many deskjet printers. I have a deskjet 890c which
worked fine under gs 5.xx, but I recently moved the printer to a
freebsd 4.8-stable machine with the current ghostscript (7.07). The
raster files produced from this new gs specifying the deskjet cdj890
were not compatible with the printer. I sent email to the hp2200
author, and he acknowledges that they may not be compatible.

>How-To-Repeat:
cat simple.ps | \
gs -sDEVICE=cdj890 -sOutputFile=out.890 -dBATCH -dSAFER -dNOPAUSE
cp out.890 /dev/lpt0
the output on the printer will be garbled text

>Fix:

The pcl3 driver does work for the deskjet 890. One must specify the
subdevice of hpdj890 and the colormodel if you want color output.
