Sorry, after a fresh cvsup, I have to confirm the problem (at least on
4.8-RELEASE, i386 pIII). I have built atlas succesfully, and I was
trying to use it with the port french/aster, but it's impossible:

The last commit has just hidden the problem by disabling the sanity
checks: now it builds, but does not run.
