Just adding the two paragraphs you wrote should be enough. I just assumed that
the "mirror_type" option is for specifying the type of the "url" option. I
think right before

" For a MIRROR_TYPE of NONE, any of the URL schemes supported by
     libfetch(3) can be used, including..."

in `man 5 pkg.conf` would be a good place for it.

Just in case: You wrote "http will take the url you have requested strip it to
/ make a get on it and expect getting a text files with a list of potential
mirrors to use.". I have configured in the url the host 127.0.0.1:36742 but the
request was to 127.0.3.1:80 . Both the ip and the port are different.
