FreeBSD typically has manual pages for drivers, in section 4 and named
after the device. See also

for more about network card drivers. In this case, if you have a vr0
device on your system, that is most likely your ethernet card (or one of
them if you have more than one).

Actually, I didn't learn any of what I know about Unix or networking
from a class. I learned a little bit from coworkers and friends, but the
vast majority I learned on my own by reading man pages, books, and
various types of online documentation (the FreeBSD Handbook is a really
fantastic resource for learning FreeBSD basics). I'm guessing that many
others on this list learned what they know on their own, too.
