Yes, you can easily disable it, just compile a kernel with "options ALTQ" ;)
Seriously, this comes from OpenBSD verbatim. If there is a lot of request that
this should be disabled for FreeBSD I'll do it. Nontheless, I think that this
information *must* be available somehow and this place will *clearly* be
pfctl -si so no gain for your problem - you'll still have to fix your script!
As for the problem, take a look at sysutils/pfstat (from ports). It gets the
parsing right and puts all info into "just numbers"-format.
