In some cases, OpenOffice.org loads pre-compiled rules (for example,=20 there are three different word iteration modes, with exceptions for some = languages). Source for those custom rules is here: http://l10n.openoffice.org/source/browse/l10n/i18npool/source/breakiterat= or/data/ (dict_word_xxx, edit_word_xxx, count_word_xxx indicate different word=20 iteration modes). OOo function loads binary images on demand in a similar way as this is=20 done in BreakIterator::buildInstance: UDataMemory* file =3D udata_open(U_ICUDATA_BRKITR, ext, fnbuff, &sta= tus); if (U_FAILURE(status)) { ures_close(b); return NULL; } // Create a RuleBasedBreakIterator result =3D new RuleBasedBreakIterator(file, status); // If there is a result, set the valid locale and actual locale,=20 and the kind if (U_SUCCESS(status) && result !=3D NULL) { U_LOCALE_BASED(locBased, *(BreakIterator*)result); locBased.setLocaleIDs(ures_getLocaleByType(b,=20 ULOC_VALID_LOCALE, &status), actualLocale); result->setBreakType(kind); } OOO.org bundles a version of ICU 3.6. I think that similar problem was already discussed there: http://www.nabble.com/Minor-changes-needed-to-ICULanguageBreakFactory-(IC= U4C)-td10069414.html Can we achieve loading custom rules and have them still bound with=20 locale and break type information in some elegant way? Is there any way we can use "ICULanguageBreakFactory" for this? Or maybe = the above-quoted interface from BreakIterator::buildInstance() could be=20 somehow exposed (we supply complete UDataMemory* structure)? The code doing this is here: http://l10n.openoffice.org/source/browse/l10n/i18npool/source/breakiterat= or/breakiterator_unicode.cxx?rev=3D1.34&view=3Dmarkup I have started scribbling some notes on this: http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/LoadICUBreakIterator I might have missed something obvious, though. --Marcin --=20 << Marcin Cieslak // saper@system.pl >> --------------enig48EE52BC953722DF5355A8A3 Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" Content-Description: OpenPGP digital signature Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="signature.asc" -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQCVAwUBSBkg1z2W2v2wY27ZAQOMpgP/bxG+wJB97tugoLiWnDju4vYIbTAYUkvn PzN0Vz6Iu/KkdMlyLMCIqQYiqsS1IxGmsT6sgX4jgHYRyiCstSThExF0Y2rCPomA b9OdYRomS8cy/RpRQi5HEXg+8kbFQY6iZVNzQpHjRbATDBQxBfKFmRBnJ8Yi0Tpj 6wrlF7L+Sco= =9kuP -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --------------enig48EE52BC953722DF5355A8A3-- From cokane at FreeBSD.org Fri May 2 16:00:08 2008 From: cokane at FreeBSD.org (Coleman Kane) Date: Fri May 2 16:00:10 2008 Subject: ports/121787: when devel/icu is installed, openoffice fails to build Message-ID: <200805021600.m42G08Nl085272@freefall.freebsd.org> The following reply was made to PR ports/121787; it has been noted by GNATS. A quick work-around: Go to the old download page: http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index_mark.jsp and there is still an old version of tzupdater-1_3_3-2007k.zip available for download. You may also try tweaking this part of the Makefile: TZUPDATE_VERSION= 1.3.3 TZUPDATE_TZVERSION= 2007k then update the "distinfo" file and submit a PR if it works :-) --Marcin -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... If not, you can try the file tzupdater-1_3_5-2008b.zip that you got with the following tips: - you will have to patch 2 ports (jdk and diablo packages, from memory), I mean edit the distfiles for each of these 2 (check the file size, the values returned by "ls -l", md5sum(1) and sha256(1) for tzupdater-1_3_5-2008b.zip). - Adjust the Makefile - check the TZUPDATE_VERSION and TZUPDATE_TZVERSION variables mentioned above. Not that I do not have first hand experience with this specific version but I suppose it will work as older updates did. Let us know of any success or failure you may have. The java.sun.com link does not have a download for that file, instead it downloads tzupdater-1-3-5-2008b.zip. The make complains that it needs tzupdater-1.3.3-2007k.zip downloaded. with this version. I tried copying tzupdater-1-3-5-2008b.zip. to tzupdater-1.3.3-2007k.zip but the make then gives an error. I could not find a web location where Sun had downloads of old versions of files to download. I googled tzupdater-1.3.3-2007k.zip and did not find messages about this for openoffice, but I think there were ones for the java port. This topic has been documented a few times recently on this list so you can probably find it. Anyway, as I am in the middle of the same and in front of the machine, here are the tips first hand (remember that it will apply to both JDK and Diablo): - Download the latest tzupdater to /usr/ports/distfiles - The steps below apply to /usr/ports/java/diablo-jdk15 and /usr/ports/java/jdk15 * Makefile: fix the values of TZUPDATE_VERSION (should read 1.3.5) and TZUPDATE_TZVERSION (should read 2008b) * Distinfo: fix the entries relative to tzupdater: MD5 (tzupdater-1_3_5-2008b.zip) = 139213d195a608d086e1d7eb5b126d81 SHA256 (tzupdater-1_3_5-2008b.zip) = 841afee8af42299a1dbbcf6b07917b83aef374eb982d7e898acc95700308c62b SIZE (tzupdater-1_3_5-2008b.zip) = 263679 Note 1: Make sure you fix the file name (not just the values) in Distinfo or the patch will be ignored (better still: append the above lines at the end of the file...) Note 2: if you have to update the package again, use the commands "ls -l", md5(1) and sha256(1) for the correct values. > I could not find a web location where Sun had downloads of old versions > of files to download. From itetcu at FreeBSD.org Mon May 19 19:01:10 2008 From: itetcu at FreeBSD.org (Ion-Mihai Tetcu) Date: Mon May 19 19:34:42 2008 Subject: ports with bad plist when NO{DOCS,EXAMPLES,PORTDATA} defined Message-ID: <20080519215010.68ce1dff@it.buh.tecnik93.com> Hi, If this problem is already fixed, please ignore this email. Out ports infrastructure provides a set of variables to control the installation of various types of documentation: NO_INSTALL_MANPAGES, NOPORTDOCS, NOPORTEXAMPLES, NOPORTDATA. A description for each of them can be found in ports/Mk/bsd.port.mk. They can be used to build stripped-down packages from our ports, a useful feature for systems where disk space is a premium (like embedded systems, etc.) In theory, for any port built with a NO* var defined the corresponding dirs and files shouldn't be installed. In practice we don't stress this, but at minimum we require is that the plist is correct - and this is what I tested. I will continue with the other categories, then I'll start testing for NO_INSTALL_MANPAGES. I'm also setting up an semi-automated system to test the ports as near to commit time as my available hardware permits. I have just finished a test build of devel/* ports and their dependencies on my amd64 tinderbox with: > m /usr/local/tinderbox/portstrees/FreeBSD/portstree.env export FORCE_PACKAGE=yes export NOPORTDOCS=yes export NOPORTEXAMPLES=yes export NOPORTDATA=yes The relevant version details: System FreeBSD 7 (RELENG_7) 2008-05-09 23:13:31 Ports Tree FreeBSD ports tree 2008-05-10 00:22:00 The build was done via: ./tc addPort -b ${_build} -r -d ${PORT} -o ./tinderbuild -noduds -nullfs -plistcheck -b ${_build} ${PORT} The following ports fail with 3 types of errors: - they install docs, examples or data files or dirs when they shouldn't because of above vars being defined and they don't list them in the plist. - they don't install some docs, examples or data files or dirs but they list them in the plist. - they confuse the meaning of one of the above NO* variables with an other or with NO_INSTALL_MANPAGES A common mistake seems to be the patting of portlint(1) by adding %%PORTDOCS%% without checking if those files are installed or not. In many cases these ports are failing to compile on some subset of the FreeBSD build environments. The most common problem is that recent versions of -CURRENT include gcc4.2, which is much stricter than older versions. The next most common problem is that compiles succeed on the i386 architecture (e.g. the common Intel PC), but fail on one or more of the other architectures due to assumptions about things such as size of various types, byte-alignment issues, and so forth. In occasional cases we see that the same port may have different errors in different build environments. The script that runs on the build cluster uses heuristics to try to 'guess' the error type to help you isolate problems, but it is only a rough guide. One more note: on occasion, there are transient build errors seen on the build farm. Unfortunately, there is not yet any way for this algorithm to tell the difference (humans are much, much better at this kind of thing.) The errors are listed below. In the case where the same problem exists on more than one build environment, the URL points to the latest errorlog for that type. (By 'build environment' here we mean 'combination of 5.x/6.x/-current with target architecture'.) (Note: the dates are included to help you to gauge whether or not the error still applies to the latest version. The program that generates this report is not yet able to determine this automatically.) portname: editors/ooo-build broken because: Size mismatch build errors: none. overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=editors&portname=ooo-build portname: editors/openoffice.org-1.1 broken because: fails to install; consider upgrading to editors/openoffice.org-2 build errors: http://pointyhat.freebsd.org/errorlogs/i386-errorlogs/e.6.2008050122/openoffice.org-1.1.5_8.log ( ) overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=editors&portname=openoffice.org-1.1 portname: editors/openoffice.org-1.1-devel broken because: fails to install; consider upgrading to editors/openoffice.org-2 build errors: http://pointyhat.freebsd.org/errorlogs/i386-errorlogs/e.6.2008050122/openoffice.org-1.1.5.20070906_3.log ( ) overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=editors&portname=openoffice.org-1.1-devel If these errors are ones that you are already aware of, please accept our apologies and ignore this message. Every effort has been made to make sure that these error reports really do correspond to a port that you maintain. However, due to the fact that this is an automated process, it may indeed generate false matches. I've been trying to get OOo to run in headless mode on FreeBSD 7 but I haven't been able to get it to actually listen on a network interface. I'm running the latest RELENG_7 compiled with "-O". I've tried the 2.4.0 and DEV300_m5 binary packages from the Good Day web site, and I've tried using a version of 2.4.0 compiled locally as well. For 2.4.0, here are the command-line options I'm using: -invisible -accept='socket,host=localhost,port=8100;urp' -display :0 For 3 DEV: -headless -accept='socket,host=localhost,port=8100;urp' -display :0 I have Xvfb running on the box. So I'm wondering if headless mode is known to work on FreeBSD. I'm not sure where to look next. A process trace of soffice.bin isn't telling me much. Any suggestions or comments?
