The WPA support in FreeBSD 8.0 (and CURRENT) works well as far as I know.
Well, I suppose this depends on the wireless card and chipset you have (I
have an Intel card with a 4965AGN chipset).

If you want to use WPA, you need to use wpa_supplicant to configure the
WPA settings (create a wpa_supplicant.conf config file in /etc). Look for
the wpa_supplicant manpage and also the entry dating 20080420 in
/usr/src/UPDATING for explanation about how to configure it correctly.
