24-bit audio from musicpd gives out white noise with built-in sound driver

Hi all,

I've had some problems with musicpd-1.16_1 and the builtin sound.ko.

It seems that they don't play nicely with each other unless I force
16-bit output from musicpd; otherwise I get white noise.

Does anyone know off the top of his/her head any reasons that this
could be so? OSS from ports works fine as-is for me.
