Ok, the "watch TV" problem is related to this (part of configure output
when running 'make' in mythtv port directory):
# Video Output Support
x11 support               no
OpenGL video              no
OpenGL vsync              no
DirectFB                  no
Fribidi formatting        yes
MHEG support              yes

I don't understand why x11 support isn't autodetected, but that neeeds
to be fixed somehow.
