Will you submit it to the FreeBSD project? Would you care to include step 6 into your port? it makes it possible to run on pvrxxx-cards using the ivtv interface ( --enable-ivtv ). It is my intent to push as much freebsd-patches upstream to the mythtv project, so "porting" every release takes less effort. I have already done so with earlier releases, and it has certainly paid off. The MythTV project is receptive to platform-related patches. Yeah sure. I will update the ports in my svn repository to 0.22 today and fix a few rough edges so we can do a call for testers soon. > It is my intent to push as much freebsd-patches upstream to the mythtv > project, so "porting" every release takes less effort. There are very few fixes that would make sense upstream in their current form. The biggest one is to fix the Qt3 style includes and i've already found a developer that will do a review of the patch and commit it. > As of .22 I can think of 2 patches to request to the MythTV project: > 1. the #include fix for mpeg2fix.cpp That patch is already known to the developers. > 2. the fix in step 6. to make ivtv compile Don't know if that is the best way. I will have a closer look at it later. > Do you have any more suggestions? I have no supported card so i cannot test mythtv backend on FreeBSD and would appreciate it if anyone could test functionality of mythtv. Frontend is easier to test for me and i will try to upgrade my linux box with the backend this week. -- Bernhard Fr?hlich http://www.bluelife.at/ From bugmaster at FreeBSD.org Mon Nov 9 11:06:58 2009 From: bugmaster at FreeBSD.org (FreeBSD bugmaster) Date: Mon Nov 9 11:08:47 2009 Subject: Current problem reports assigned to freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.org Message-ID: <200911091106.nA9B6vXY079057@freefall.freebsd.org> Note: to view an individual PR, use: http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=(number). I have a PVR-350 (on my test machine) and will test backend as much as I can / have time for. I also have a PVR-500, but that is in my production backend, and thus testing is a bit more awkward. But both use the pvrxxx driver, so it shouldn't matter. -- Regards, Torfinn Ingolfsen From remko at FreeBSD.org Wed Nov 11 08:42:58 2009 From: remko at FreeBSD.org (remko@FreeBSD.org) Date: Wed Nov 11 08:43:05 2009 Subject: kern/140453: [sound] No sound inside Virtualbox on 50% volume Message-ID: <200911110842.nAB8gvxB016421@freefall.freebsd.org> Synopsis: [sound] No sound inside Virtualbox on 50% volume Responsible-Changed-From-To: freebsd-bugs->freebsd-multimedia Responsible-Changed-By: remko Responsible-Changed-When: Wed Nov 11 08:42:46 UTC 2009 Responsible-Changed-Why: reassign to multimedia team http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=140453 From edwin at FreeBSD.org Wed Nov 11 18:10:17 2009 From: edwin at FreeBSD.org (edwin@FreeBSD.org) Date: Wed Nov 11 18:11:14 2009 Subject: ports/140480: Update port: audio/denemo to 0.8.10 Message-ID: <200911111810.nABIAHYs003218@freefall.freebsd.org> Synopsis: Update port: audio/denemo to 0.8.10 Responsible-Changed-From-To: freebsd-ports-bugs->freebsd-multimedia Responsible-Changed-By: edwin Responsible-Changed-When: Wed Nov 11 18:10:17 UTC 2009 Responsible-Changed-Why: Over to maintainer (via the GNATS Auto Assign Tool) http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=140480 From miwi at FreeBSD.org Wed Nov 11 18:16:39 2009 From: miwi at FreeBSD.org (miwi@FreeBSD.org) Date: Wed Nov 11 18:16:45 2009 Subject: ports/140480: Update port: audio/denemo to 0.8.10 Message-ID: <200911111816.nABIGd3Q012014@freefall.freebsd.org> Synopsis: Update port: audio/denemo to 0.8.10 Responsible-Changed-From-To: freebsd-multimedia->miwi Responsible-Changed-By: miwi Responsible-Changed-When: Wed Nov 11 18:16:38 UTC 2009 Responsible-Changed-Why: I'll take it. http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=140480 From QAT at FreeBSD.org Thu Nov 12 12:03:52 2009 From: QAT at FreeBSD.org (QAT@FreeBSD.org) Date: Thu Nov 12 12:03:58 2009 Subject: audio/jack - It is tested with porttools ("port test" to be specific),and AFAICT passes ok. When properly tested, I will submit a PR. However, I am not really sure that we should upgrade without keeping the old port around. Why? Well, a few grabbers have disappeared from the new version, and I am not sure what ill effects that will have. For my country, tv_grab_no is replaced with tv_grab_no_gfeed. The new grabber is technically much better than the old one, but it have listings for fewer channels than the old one. For the other countries, I can only speculate. I see that tv_grab_be is missing from the new version, and don't know if there is a replacement. They have done a lot of work to use Qt 4.4 and compiling mythtv has gotten a lot easier on FreeBSD with that. Nevertheless it is a huge application and needs compile and runtime testing on as many boxes as possible. I've already compiled on FreeBSD 8.0-RC1/amd64, FreeBSD 7.2/i386 and with a QATty tinderbox so i'm quite sure it will not look too bad. Both should be valid but the former is probably a bit faster. At least tell someone of the gnome@ team about it. I've seen that the ontv version is already quite outdated so it probably makes sense to update it to the latest version when you're at it. The current code does not start the encoding when polling, only on read. It should also start encoding when polled before the 1st read. regards, usleep > 4) I have made an alternative /usr/local/etc/rc.d/mythbackend (attached). > It would be nice if the mythtv port could use that. For my current backend, I only do manual db backups (I've been lucky so far). But when MythTV 0.22 comes to FreeBSd, I wil try to build / set up a better backend. MythTV have "official" backup and restore scripts[1], I haven't (yet) tried those. I see that there is mysqlbackup[2] in ports, but perhaps there is other solutions too? What are people using? Thanks for the hint. Haven't looked at it yet but it probably is because i cannot and do not use --extra-cflags (because it otherwise pulls installed ffmpeg from /usr/local in where it shouldn't and breaks build in strange ways) so configure has to be fixed here and there so that it searches in /usr/local and this looks exactly like one place i missed. -- Bernhard Fr?hlich http://www.bluelife.at/ From torfinn.ingolfsen at broadpark.no Fri Nov 20 10:41:22 2009 From: torfinn.ingolfsen at broadpark.no (Torfinn Ingolfsen) Date: Fri Nov 20 10:41:29 2009 Subject: Call for Testers: MythTV 0.22 In-Reply-To: <20091120085925.f75b3e73.torfinn.ingolfsen@broadpark.no> References: <20091115204205.482e6a15@bluelife.at> <20091120085925.f75b3e73.torfinn.ingolfsen@broadpark.no> Message-ID: <20091120114100.9bec7d49.torfinn.ingolfsen@broadpark.no> On Fri, 20 Nov 2009 08:59:25 +0100 Torfinn Ingolfsen wrote: > I don't understand why x11 support isn't autodetected, but that neeeds > to be fixed somehow. Is there a How-to-debug-configure-for-dummies out there somewhere? Or is configure intended to be the replacement source of frustration now that we have postfix and can avoid beating our heads against sendmail.cf? One of them is running the latest version of PC-BSD, which is of course based on FreeBSD 7.2-STABLE. It appears to load the audio driver, but it's mute. The dc7600 sports a built-in speaker, and neither it nor any of the jacks seem to produce sound. I've looked over the saga of the snd_hda driver, and am not quite clear where to go. It looks configured. The pin mappings seem to make some sort of sense, though I don't know what they ought to be. # cat /dev/sndstat FreeBSD Audio Driver (newpcm: 32bit 2007061600/i386) Installed devices: pcm0: at cad 0 nid 1 on hdac0 kld snd_hda [MPSAFE] (1p:1v/1r:1v channels duplex default) So it probes fine. Speakers sometimes controlled with setting GPIO signals. You may need to experiment with them. Same time, your output connector configured for automatic audio redirection, with default to speaker, but if it is incapable of signaling jack presence, it won't ever receive any sound. -- Alexander Motin From bugmaster at FreeBSD.org Mon Nov 23 11:07:00 2009 From: bugmaster at FreeBSD.org (FreeBSD bugmaster) Date: Mon Nov 23 11:08:47 2009 Subject: Current problem reports assigned to freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.org Message-ID: <200911231106.nANB6x8S070190@freefall.freebsd.org> Note: to view an individual PR, use: http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=(number). That what you have configured still require two DACs. Only one seq=15 can share DAC with others. You'll have to disable one of them. How much connectors do you have on case? May be some of configured nids is fake? Looking on codec datasheet, nid 17 is mono out, so it is a good candidate to be used for speaker. > Am I supposed to > be trying to figure this out before trying to play with gpio signals? Possible, I suppose. There's a blue and green line in/out on the rear. There's a headphone and mic on the front. Those are all represented as nid 16, 19, 20, 21. There's what appears to be a CD input on the system board, I've been assuming that to be nid 15 / AUX. You suggest nid 17 was the speaker. That appears to account for all non-disabled nid's. > Looking on codec datasheet, nid 17 is mono out, so it is a good > candidate to be used for speaker. > > > Am I supposed to > > be trying to figure this out before trying to play with gpio signals? > > Better solve all possible problems before, as there is quite large > number of combinations. :-) So I think I'm a little lost on what is requiring two DAC's. I thought by throwing everything in association 0, that'd put the same outputs on everything. Am I better off disabling everything and then just walking through one nid at a time trying to establish what's what? I can do that without toooo much pain. Thanks for any further insight. ... To handle this 4.0 setup driver needs 2 DACs. As soon as you have only one DAC, all you can setup is one stereo output with additional stereo redirection. It is impossible to make all 3 outputs work, so you should choose which one to disable. > Am I better off disabling everything and then just walking > through one nid at a time trying to establish what's what?
