Intel HDA (IDT 92HD73E) on a DPS45G audio problems.

I have a Intel DPS45G mainboard [1], running 7.1-PRERELEASE on it. When I load
the snd_hda.ko the system will pick up the audio hardware as:
pcm0: <Intel (Unknown) High Definition Audio Controller> mem
0xc3420000-0xc3423fff irq 22 at device 27.0 on pci0
pcm0: [ITHREAD]
pcm0: <HDA Codec: Unknown Codec>
pcm0: <HDA Driver Revision: 20080420_0052>
But no dsp nodes are created in /dev until I try to mplayer/sidplay something.
Even so, I still hear nothing coming from my speakers. I've also tried cat
some/wave/file > dev/dsp0.0 after the dsp0.0 node is created from running
mplayer or sidplay.

Is this just a missing device definition somewhere?

cat /dev/sndstat:
FreeBSD Audio Driver (newpcm: 32bit 2007061600/i386)
Installed devices:
pcm0: <Intel (Unknown) High Definition Audio Controller> at memory 0xc3420000
irq 22 kld snd_hda [20080420_0052] [MPSAFE] (1p:1v/1r:1v channels duplex
default)
