Thanks for your work.
here is the result on my machine.

Loading the driver found at your freebsd address,
gives the following display after:
/usr/sbin/mixer

Mixer mic      is currently set to   0:0
Mixer rec      is currently set to   0:0
Recording source: mic

vol and pcm disappeared.

of course, no sound and volume not properly set.

unloading the driver coredump.

if you want i can put the coredump somewhere.

Details:
sony vaio (s5 acpi sony driver),
hda alc262
FreeBSD current from 20080820 + driver from today.
