I committed the midi patches to -current. What about jumping into the
cold water and "just start"? If you don't know where to start:
- have a look at what the guys over at opensound.com provide (midi docs)
- have a look what FreeBSD is able to do
- make a list what it does wrong or not at all
- have a look at how the current code handles the existing functionality
- try to fix wrong parts
- try to implement missing parts
A lot of this does not depend upon knowledge of device driver
programming, but it depends upon people with interest in MIDI and
MIDI-equipment. I don't have much knowledge about MIDI, I don't have
MIDI equipment, and I don't know much about the internals of the midi
code, but I can help finding solutions to a problem.

I think this is a nice reason to just start and "play around" with
what we have currently, don't you think? :-)
