onboard audio cmi8738 no sound

My mother board is an asus a7v266-ex with an onboard
cmi8738.I installed few days ago freeBSD 5.3. After
putting the line snd_cmi_load=YES in the loader.conf 
it seemed the audio device was correctly installed but
I can't hear anything.
