Hello Brian,
That's bad news. We really need to investigate. First, I
think you should try to get a kernel crash dump
http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/developers-handbook/kerneldebug.html
and then get a backtrace. (I'll admit that I'm probably the
wrong person to be giving detailed instructions on how to do this)
