I submitted a revision of that driver to Andreas Klemm, who was working on a 
project to create a driver for a professional multi-i/o audio card that uses 
the same chipset. As it is, the driver isn't useful though, it recognizes the 
chip (on any card) but doesn't produce actual sound-output. It seems Andreas 
hasn't made significant progress either. If you want to help out with
