 Nice, it looks good! But unfortunately it doesn't work:

# kldload acpi_wmi
# kldload acpi_hp
acpi_hp0: Couldn't find acpi_wmi device
device_attach: acpi_hp0 attach returned 22

# ls /dev/wmistat
ls: /dev/wmistat: No such file or directory

# sysctl -a | grep -c -i PNP0C14
0
